What goes around comes around
Sydney Scholarship winners with JMC Academy Department Heads. From left: Sean Callinan, Brendan Williams, Garth Nix, Jonathan Nix, Anna McFarlane, Karen Markakis |
JMC Academy sponsored the Best Short Animation category at the Jameson Inside Film Awards, held at Sydney’s Luna Park in November, 2011. Congratulations to the winning short The Missing Key, animated by Brendan Williams, directed by Jonathon Nix and produced by Anna McFarlane and Garth Nix. In a twist of good fate, when Head of Animation, Sean Callinan and Head of Marketing and Branding, Karen Markakis congratulated the winners, it was discovered that Brendan Williams was a JMC Academy animation graduate!
The Missing Key is an animated film seven years in the making. Director Jonathan Nix describes it as a film about an artist seeking to create something of beauty and resonance. It is often the case that inspiration arrives only when things begin to go wrong and we are freed from the expectations we build before we even begin. For a trailer and information on this stunning work, visit The Missing Key website. It is scheduled to screen at the Byron Bay Festival, followed by the Sydney Film Festival in June 2012.
